The Salen Hotel looks out across Loch Sunart and is surrounded by the Sunart Oakwoods. This is the gateway to the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the most westerly point on the British Mainland, from which you can explore all that this area of Scotland has to offer.
From Fort William take the A82 in the direction of Oban. After about 8 miles, shortly before Onich, cross the Corran Ferry to Ardgour. On leaving the ferry turn left and follow the signs from Strontian and then on to Salen. Turn left on entering the village and the Hotel is immediately on the right.
Alternatively if you have more time for the journey and want a more scenic route, head North out of Fort William taking the road to Mallaig and the Isles (A830). This would take you through Glenfinnan where you could stop at the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument and National Trust Visitor Centre. From here continue on your journey to Lochailort where you turn off the Road to the Isles and head across hills (A86). You are then heading through Moidart. Go through the fishing village of Glenuig and onto Acharacle, crossing over the Sheil bridge through the village and two miles further on you will come to Salen. Turn right into the village, and the Hotel is directly on the right.
